Furong is often called the ancient town hanging on a waterfall: historic lanes and stilted buildings sit above the water as it drops through town. Visiting around dusk gives the route’s first stop a completely different atmosphere from the mountain viewpoints later on.
Zhangjiajie’s Wulingyuan area is a landscape of tall sandstone pillars, ravines, and forest. The route uses the Bailong Lift to reach the scenic area, then visits signature viewpoints including No. 1 Bridge and Hallelujah Mountain.
The final stretch moves toward Yichang and the Yangtze, with a Three Gorges Tribe Scenic Area cruise, Qu Yuan’s hometown, and San You Cave on the sightseeing list. Here the journey’s focus shifts from mountain formations to river landscapes and stories tied to the region.
